Becoming Disciples
Connecting.  Growing.  Transforming.

At Trinity we believe that becoming Disciples—i.e. followers—of Jesus is an intentional process that is accomplished in the midst of others who are also developing their discipleship.  We call such a group “Christian community” or the church.  And Trinity is organized around the values and principles that encourage discipleship.  In fact, each of the seven bullet points in our Vision Statement (printed nearly every Sunday on the cover of our Sunday morning Bulletin) supports the discipleship process through connecting, growing and transforming.

The first step in the process is Connecting to others and to the church.  The Hospitality Team is committed to assisting you in the connection process.  In addition to offering the Connections Class, we help you discover some of the many other opportunities to connect with people at Trinity through meals, Bible study, hands on service.  Part of the process of making meaningful connections is better understanding who you are and knowing more about the gifts and graces you have received from God.  But the process of becoming a better Disciple is also about deepening your connection with God through regular worship, prayer and other practices of faith.

Another phase in the process of becoming Disciples is Growing—in your desire to understand God’s ways in the world and in your ability to incorporate behaviors that enrich your spiritual life into your everyday life.  The church and this congregation we call Trinity exist in part to promote the personal and spiritual growth that comes when people gather to honor God and develop ourselves in line with God’s teaching through the Bible and the gift of Jesus.  And through the power of the Holy Spirit, we believe that people on the discipleship journey are Transforming.  The connection and growth that God calls us to a members of Christian community have the power to change the way we look at the world, the way we are in the world and how we offer ourselves to the world.  The life death and resurrection of Jesus not only transformed the world in Jesus’s time, but it is continually transforming us today as we participate more fully in Christian community.

Let us journey together, in the presence of Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, toward lives that bear witness to God’s presence in and love for the world!

We are a community graced by God's love,
called to be and make disciples of Jesus Christ.
