Sunday Morning Classes

 

There are a variety of Sunday morning classes for adults to experience. Classes are offered at 9:30 and at 10:45 so that you may worship at either the Contemporary or Traditional service. Child care is available at both times.

  • ADULT FELLOWSHIP CLASS: Room 319 (9:30 a.m.) This class of both singles and couples ranges in age from forty to over eighty. Topics of study include lessons from the United Methodist curriculum as well as open discussion topics. This class is taught by volunteers from its own membership as well as occasional outside resource persons. Class Contact: Bill Owen (364-6052).  

  • BIBLE STUDY CLASS: Room 324 (9:30 a.m.) This class focuses on an in-depth study of the Bible and how it relates to our everyday living. Lively discussions among class members are incorporated and encouraged. This class is for all who want to learn more about the bible, how to study it, and how to apply these teachings to our personal lives. Lessons are provided by a number of excellent teachers within the class. Singles and couples of every age (from twenties to eighties) are welcome.   • CHRISTIAN BELIEFS TODAY: Room 323 (9:30 a.m.) This multi-generational class discusses current world and local events as they relate to our faith journey and how we, as Christians, live our beliefs and influence our world. We incorporate both current events and historic perspectives in our discussions. We enjoy many social activities each year, including a Kentucky Derby Party and Octoberfest. Food, socializing, and supportive friendships are our joy and strength. Come join us! Class Contact: Barbara Shavelson (741-1335).

  • CONTEMPORARY CLASS: Room 321 (9:30 a.m.) This class explores social, ethical and theological issues as reflected in the bible, history, personal experiences and modern writings. Class members teach through lectures, slides, videos and spirited discussions -- always seeking to bring contemporary relevance to the expression of their Christian faith. This group ranges in age from forty to over ninety, and members participate in hands-on mission projects as well as social events. Class Contact: George Gill (749-4268).

  • FAITHWORKS: Room 309 (9:30 a.m.) This class provides opportunity for Christian growth and learning through lessons, discussion, fun and fellowship for adults, including single and married people, with and without children. Class lessons and discussions stimulate thinking about the role of Christianity in our lives, our roles in the community, modern cultural issues and religious concepts. Members of FaithWorks provide leadership for our Mothers and More ministry. Class members get together outside of class for service projects, cook-outs and more. Class Contact: Brian Ford (282-3650).
  • FIREPROOF: Room 310 (10:45 a.m.) The Fireproof Series is a six week bible study developed by Family First Ministries dedicated to making relationships all that God intended.  This study focuses on building relationships – so singles as well as couples are welcome.  Together we will strengthen families and communities while growing closer to God and each other.  Class Contact: Rebecca Blackwell (747-6671)

  • LIFE CHOICES: Room 322 (9:30 a.m.) This class relies on relaxed, bible-based discussion of issues for today's Christian.  Lessons alternate between biblical character studies, current topical issues, and bbile book studies.  Emphasis is on discussion and fellowship, centered on supporting each other as we navigate and balance modern day life.  Class Contacts: Barry Schmitt (364-9136), Andrea Wortzel (740-0038)   

  • MASTIN CLASS: Room 223 (9:30 a.m.) Shared fellowship and study with regular teachers, this class uses various bible studies for learning. This is a mature group of adults, singles, and couples. This class is actively involved with helping those of the community in need. Class Contacts: Ella Ruth Blanton (288-4322), Frances Haddock (747-7199).  

  • ORDINARY PEOPLE: Room 322 (10:45 a.m.) This intergenerational class has a comfortable style with a volunteer member-led discussion format using biblically based material. As we gain knowledge of the Bible, we relate it to today's living. Members participate in several outreach ministries and enjoy social gatherings outside of the church.   • OUTREACH: Room 310 (9:30 a.m.) This class of couples and singles in their 40s and 50s explores current/family issues, related to appropriate Bible themes while incorporating a variety of teaching methods, including discussion, video, lecture and guest speakers. Social activities include Christmas progressive dinner and a Super Bowl party. Class members are active participants on Trinity's men's basketball team and co-ed softball team.   • 20’s & 30’s CLASS: Room 319 (10:45 a.m.) This new class is for persons in the 20-30 year old age range.  As the group forms, we will decide on discussion topics and a class name.  All are welcome!  Class Contacts: Catherine Tudor, Katie St. Germain, Doug Rechenbach

  • SEEKERS BOOK DISCUSSION CLASS: Room 317 (10:45 a.m.) This class welcomes adults of all ages who are interested in reading books that illuminate, challenge and deepen their faith. Class members read a chapter or two each week and discuss the reading on Sunday morning. Examples of authors we've read in the past include: C.S. Lewis, Henri Nouwen, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, William Willimon, and James Moore. Class members participate regularly in church sponsored mission activities.
