We spend so much time getting ready for Christmas, don’t we?

From November through December our lives are a frenzy of pre-Christmas preparations including decorating, purchasing and wrapping gifts, baking, cooking, and more. At church we dive into the season of Advent with the weekly lighting of our Advent wreath, our Advent Devotional book, Advent Bible Studies, Sharing Hope Night … the list goes on. And then, almost as soon as the last present is unwrapped or the clock strikes midnight on the night of Dec. 31, we jump right into the next thing. This year, before we jump right to that ‘next thing’ we want to take time to celebrate all that went into Advent and Christmas at here at Trinity.

We hope you had the opportunity to enjoy one or more of the Advent and Christmas activities in December at Trinity. Between the newly formatted Advent devotional book, the Sunday afternoon performance of the Lessons and Carols service, the exciting Children’s pageant, and the four heartfelt worship services on Christmas Eve, we hope you and your family found an opportunity to connect and experience a Holy Advent and Christmas. Thank you for your participation. As was announced in worship on Sunday, your generous gifts through our Christmas offering raised more than $16,000 to support our ministry partner United Methodist Family Services this year. Thank you for your giving.

Christmas comes and goes with such a fleeing of time that it is sometimes easy to let the meaning of Christmas slip away. A good way to hang on to Christmas is to remember that every month has a 24 and a 25. Maybe make a note on your personal calendar on those dates that simply states: Remember Christmas! That way, Christmas isn’t packed away until next December.

Thanks to everyone who gave of his/her time in support of all of the Advent and Christmas activities at Trinity. All the best for you in 2018.
