Trinity Preschool and PMO is hiring a team teacher for our 1-year-old toddler classroom. Our school year runs from September to May. Hours for this position are 8:30-12:30, M-F. Job Description

Toddler (PMO) Teacher Job Description (1 and 2-year-olds)
  • Attend to the children’s basic needs by feeding, dressing, changing their diapers, and managing toilet training needs
  • Teachers must wash their hands after toileting, changing diapers, and before serving/helping with snack
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities to promote the child’s developmental areas (cognitive, adaptive, social/emotional, language, fine/gross motor) through imaginative play, games, arts and crafts, songs, finger plays, music/ movement, and storytelling.
  • Provide daily communication about the child to the parents /caregivers about the child’s behavior, routine, joys/concerns; help give support and advice to parents/caregivers; help to resolve any ongoing problems.
  • Redirect and divert children if, when, and before behavioral problems arise
  • Monitor each child’s development through daily observation and evaluations
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the developmental stages of the children’s age group in which you are working
  • Successfully take charge in a classroom setting by keeping toddlers engaged during activities and being able to adjust the lessons or activities throughout the day rapidly
  • Exercise compassion and empathy while interacting with children and their parents
  • Maintain an organized, clean classroom and school environment to ensure a clean and safe place to play and learn
  • Arrange the indoor/outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor skills activities, and safety
  • Enforce all school policies and rules governing the students
  • Teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene (i.e., washing hands after bathroom and before snack, covering cough/sneeze with the inside of your elbow or a tissue, using a tissue to wipe the nose, etc.)
  • Teach and sing/say a blessing before eating a snack
  • Provide comfort to children in distress
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests
  • Attend staff meetings/luncheons/training
  • Read books to the entire class or small groups
  • Required to be trained and certified in first aid and CPR (Adult and Pediatric)
  • Annually, staff members must be certified by a practicing physician or physician assistant to be free from any disability that would prevent him/her from caring for children under his/her supervision
  • Start and end work day: 8:30-12:30
  • Meet with the director to have an End of Year Review
