Call to Worship

Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

   Sing praises to our God. Give thanks to the Lord of hosts.

God’s anger may flash for a moment, but God’s favor lasts a lifetime.

   Sings praises to the Lord. Worship the God of our salvation.

Opening Prayer

God of Liberation, we are gathered to meet with you this morning. Open our hearts to the many ways you will speak to us. As you did with the prophets, you call us out of our everyday lives to share your message of love and grace. Challenge us today to look within ourselves so that we may be your disciples. Amen.

Affirmation

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord:
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body
and the life everlasting. Amen

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed by thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses
 as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,
 but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.   Amen.
