Introduction (December 1, 2018)
Ok, I’m going to say it: Christmas frazzles me! Does it frazzle you?
Without fail, every Christmas I say to myself, I’m not going to be trapped and consumed by all of the commercial pieces associated with the season. I cringe in early October when the big box retailers start loading up floor space with Christmas stuff.
Maybe it was because I was a kid, but I don’t recall Christmas frazzling me, and I clearly don’t recall a rush to start the season either. Way back then, it seems like after Thanksgiving that Christmas started to gain some traction, but the pace was comfortable.
Today, the pace of Christmas pushes me every waking minute. It is a nonstop sprint, a sprint for me that is a distraction.
Perhaps, in its own unique way this devotional book might be a means for slowing down your Christmas pace. We hope that you can find some quiet time to take in the words of scripture and personal reflection. Maybe the accompanying photographs will push you for a few minutes into a relaxing daydream far away from that frazzled, hectic season.
If Christmas frazzles you, like it frazzles me, take a step back, and think about the quiet commotion that entered the world all those years ago.
